Capturing the Boating Lifestyle

·  I am a professional photographer who knows recreational boating through years of personal involvement and boat ownership. I understand the value and meaning  boats have for their owners, beyond their usefulness as physical objects: sharing with family and friends; the joy and energy of sailing, the feeling of relaxation, oneness with nature and the wind; the thrill of a fast motorboat ride, the exhilaration of a water ski run or landing a big fish; the teamwork of boat racing and the excitement of winning a race.

·  A big part of my involvement with boats is the satisfaction of photographing them. It comes from a sense of connection with the subject, of being there, in that moment and capturing it with my camera. I have the know-how and equipment to produce excellent photos while aboard power boats or sailing yachts, or on shore--whatever the situation requires.

·  I bring to each job my enthusiasm for photography and boating, 20-plus years of experience with both, resourcefulness and perseverance. I am committed to showing boats and boating people at their very best to capture the boating lifestyle.. Working together, we can create advertising and marketing photos that will wow your customers.

I love talking about boats and photography. Contact me with your questions, or specific photo needs, and we can work out the details. Phone 703-216-3016, or e-mail alices@amsphotos.com if you prefer.

My photography experience began with photojournalism and studio photography courses at the University of Missouri, and included taking photos for a daily newspaper. Since then, I've had photos published in trade association magazines and specialty consumer magazines, some while working as a writer and editor for those trade publications. I perfected my skills in studio work, lighting, and digital image processing through 2 years of courses at Northern Virginia Community College, and subsequent practice.

When not working, I'm usually sailing or hanging out with other boating people. I take long walks to get that stretching out exercise that one doesn't get while in a boat. I’m a member of Sail America, Boat/US, the Sailing Club of Washington, Professional Photographers of America, and the American Society of Media Photographers.

A Passion for Boats. A Commitment To Show Them at Their Best.
